Auckland hourly rates

One rate every day of the week, whatever size the crew. A third mover adds $40 an hour and a fourth adds $60, so the price moves with the crew you need rather than the day you pick.

One callout fee applies per job: $69 / $60 ex for a two-mover crew and $92 / $80 ex for three. It is charged once, not per leg.

Packing and exit cleaning

A full house pack is priced from the table below. That figure is the minimum for a full pack of that size: our packers in every room, with all cartons and materials supplied. If there turns out to be more to pack, the extra hours and materials bill at the rates on your quote, and our price cap promise still protects you: if the job runs more than 2 hours over the quoted estimate, the extra time is free. Part packs, such as just the kitchen, are priced by the hour. Exit cleaning is a fixed price from the start, set by bedrooms and bathrooms, and you can book it off the table below.

Piano moving

A fixed job price, not hourly. Stairs add $115 / $100 ex per flight, and some outer suburbs carry a travel surcharge we confirm when we quote.

Crane lifts, where there are no stairs

Second-floor apartments and balconies with no stair access are a hiab lift rather than a carry. That is a fixed job price, not the per-flight stairs charge, because it is a different job: crane truck, a spotter, and the street held while the piano is in the air. Every crane lift needs a viewing before we confirm the price.

Hamilton and Waikato rates

One flat hourly rate, every day of the week. What changes in Hamilton is the callout, which follows the zone you are in. A job that leaves the Waikato is priced as out of town, on the tiers below.

Callout for a two-mover crew depends on the zone: Zone A $69 / $60 ex · Zone B $92 / $80 ex · Zone C $138 / $120 ex.

Outer Auckland and Hamilton

Flat hourly with no cheap day, because the travel is the same whatever day you move. This is the rate for a job that leaves town, from either base, and it is dearer than a move inside Auckland or inside Hamilton.

Tier 2 —

Papakura, Silverdale, Dairy Flat, Warkworth, Wellsford, Waiwera, Waimauku, Helensville, Tahekeroa, Kaukapakapa, Riverhead, Beachlands, Maraetai, Whangaparaoa, Orewa, Stanmore Bay, Red Beach.

What changes the price

• How much you have. More to move means more hours, and past a certain volume a third mover is faster and cheaper than two working late.
• Access at both ends. Stairs, long carries and tight parking are not surcharged — they simply take longer, and the hours show it.
• Where you are. Outer Auckland and the Waikato zones carry their own rates, listed above.
• How ready you are. Boxes packed, sealed and labelled before the truck arrives is the cheapest hour you will ever save.

Pricing questions

How much do movers cost in Auckland?

Two movers and a truck cost $173 an hour including GST ($150 + GST), any day of the week. There is a one-off callout fee of $69 incl GST on top. A typical three-bedroom move works out around $650 to $1,000 + GST all in.

Is it cheaper to move on a particular day in Auckland?

No. Two movers and a truck are $173 an hour incl GST every day of the week, weekends included. Bigger crews follow the same shape: a third mover adds $40 an hour and a fourth adds $60, on whichever day you move. What does change is availability: Fridays, weekends and the end of the month book out first.

How long does it take to move a three-bedroom house?

About 4 hours with two movers if both ends have easy access, and about 6 hours if stairs, long carries or tight parking are involved at both ends. We bill for the hours actually worked, not the estimate.

Is there a callout fee?

Yes, one per job. It is $69 incl GST for a two-mover crew and $92 for three movers in Auckland. It covers getting the truck and crew to you and is charged once, not per leg.

How much does packing cost?

A full house pack starts at $2,012 incl GST for a one-bedroom home and $3,258 for four bedrooms or more. Those figures are the minimum for a full pack of that size: our packers in every room, with all cartons and materials supplied. If there is more to pack than expected, the extra hours and materials bill at the rates on your quote, and our price cap promise protects you: if the job runs more than 2 hours over the quoted estimate, the extra time is free. Part packs, such as just the kitchen, are priced by the hour. Exit cleaning is different: it is a fixed price from the start, $322 to $839 incl GST by bedrooms and bathrooms.

How much does it cost to move a piano?

Piano moves are a fixed job price rather than hourly: from $334 incl GST for an upright and from $633 for a grand. Stairs add $115 incl GST per flight, and some outer suburbs carry a travel surcharge.

Are these prices a fixed quote?

These are our standard rates, and they are what your written quote is built from. Hourly moving work is billed on the hours actually worked, so that figure depends on how the day runs. A full house pack bills at the quoted packing price as a minimum, and more only if there is more to pack. Exit cleaning and piano moves are fixed prices confirmed in writing before we start. Every quote is backed by our price cap promise: if the job runs more than 2 hours over the quoted estimate, the extra time is free.

Do you charge more for stairs or difficult access?

Not as a surcharge on house moves. Difficult access simply takes longer, and the extra time shows in the hours. We ask about stairs, lifts and parking when we quote so the estimate reflects the job rather than surprising you on the day. Piano moves are the exception: stairs are charged per flight because the crew and gear needed change.

The fine print

• Every job is quoted individually, and we reserve the right to price a specific job at a different rate from the ones published here. Difficult access, high-risk items or short notice can carry a higher rate. Your rate is always given up front, and the rate on your quote is the rate that applies.
• Rates on this page are reviewed from time to time and may change without notice. A written quote holds for 14 days.
• Estimates are based on what you tell us about the home and access. If the job on the day is materially different from what we were told, the hours will reflect the actual job, and the price cap promise may not apply.
• The price cap covers our crew’s working time, not time spent waiting. The most common reason a move waits is a settlement delay — settlement not confirming, funds not cleared, or keys not released. Settlement sits between you, your lawyer and the other party, so that time is charged at the rate on your quote and does not count towards the two hours. The same applies if a lift or access is unavailable, the home is not ready to load, what we were told at quote time turns out to be wrong, or the job changes after we quote it. The cap is there so that our own underestimate is our problem rather than yours; it is not cover for a delay neither of us caused.
